"Mr. Shavelson whose early career involved producing and editing lifestyle segments for Video Fashion Inc., produced and/or directed over a thousand hours of "live interactive" shows for WNYC in New York during the 1980's. In 1990 he was contracted to hire the start-up production team for FX Fox's first cable venture, and produced the live interactive "Breakfast Time" hosted by Tom Bergeron.
He co-created/produced/wrote/directed "Celebrity Dish" for two years at the Food Network and in 2000 launched "Crossing Over with Psychic John Edward for the Sci-Fi Network. After one season, as Executive Producer he sold the show to Universal/NBC and syndicated over 900 episodes and produced "John Edward Cross Country" filming live appearances of the famed psychic all over the world.
He is often called upon to consult and/or create alternative positively spirited programming, like the reality Holiday Special "At Home with the Brave," that he created, executive produced, and directed for A&E Television. As recently as November 2016, he directed a pilot and the first three episodes of "Black Box: for I-Heart Media. The series is positioned for 2018 distribution.
He has created a successful streaming studio for psychic on-line subscription services and has authored two books on mindfulness, "Beyond the Mayan Prophecy" published by MacMillan and "Flat Food, Flat Stomach" published by Simon Shuster. He is currently finishing his first novel, "the Dog Summit, “due out next year.
