We are pleased to offer our esteemed members this one-on-one opportunity with Julie Poll, a talented professional script writer with over 36+ years in the business!
The workshops will cover the fundamentals of writing for television, comedy and drama, spec scripts and original, for writers who need a refresher course or those looking to learn for the first time.
The differences in writing for network, cable and streaming will be addressed.
Workshop/PART 1 on November 11th will cover:
Pitching to an agent, producer and other options
to get your show picked up and produced
The length of your pitch and what it should
and should not include
The importance of the outline which is the guts of your script;
If it doesn’t work in the outline, it won’t work in the script.
Story structure for half hour and hour formats and streaming
Workshop/PART 2 on November 18th will cover:
Plot and character development
Budget constraints
Presentation
Summary of script fundamentals for spec scripts and pilots, including concept, plot, structure, characters and dialogue
