Happy New Year!
I want to thank all of our members for their support of the The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, New York Chapter. 2016 was a busy year. I am delighted that we were able to honor 17 exceptional individuals who have made significant contributions to our industry. We held the first Gold Circle Induction luncheon on Thursday, December 1 to honor some real trailblazers in New York media. Six people were present to accept their membership in this society of honor for their 50+ years of service. Agnes Nixon, the legendary Daytime icon who passed away in late September, was inducted posthumously. We also honored 10 people with a Silver Circle Induction for their 25+ years of service. This was the New York Chapter’s first induction since 2002. This was a major event in the chapter’s 60th anniversary celebration. The photos and bios of the honorees are in this issue.
Our hard working Awards Director, Lauren Loverde, has Emmy® judging underway around the country. Nominations for the 60th Annual New York Emmy® Awards will occur in late February. Our gala is slated for late April. I hope everyone can join us for this special occasion.
Membership has its benefits. Our multi-tasking Membership Manager, Helen Masha, is available to register people or renew their memberships. Please take advantage of the many discounts that we offer, and the many events we sponsor. Encourage a friend to join us. This is your chapter. Let us know what your priorities are.
Finally, I would like to thank the members of the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee for the significant time and energy they gave to make the New York Chapter better than it was a year ago. Phyllis Bishop and Jason Palmer are also to be commended for their many contributions.
May 2017 bring everyone peace and joy!
